Is Lensmart Eyewear Worth It? An In-Depth Look
This article is based on a review by the YouTube channel "Subscription Sisters." It summarizes her personal experience and honest opinions after testing five pairs of glasses from Lensmart Eyewear.
First Impressions: The Website Experience
My journey with Lensmart began on their website, which I found to be incredibly user-friendly. While they offer a vast variety of frames that had me browsing for a good hour, the navigation was seamless. I appreciated the multiple model photos, which helped in comparing different styles. However, the standout feature for me was the virtual try-on tool. By uploading a photo of myself, I could see a realistic demonstration of how each pair of glasses would look on my face. This feature was instrumental in helping me choose the perfect frames.
Product Variety: Blue-Light and Prescription Lenses
Lensmart offers both blue light filtering glasses and prescription lenses. For this review, I tested five different pairs of spectacles: four with non-prescription, blue light filtering lenses and one pair fitted with my own prescription. I personally rely on blue-light-blocking eyewear when I'm in front of a screen for extended periods, as it significantly reduces the eye fatigue and poor sleep that can result from prolonged blue light exposure.
Unboxing: What’s Inside
Each pair of glasses arrived in its own branded box. Inside, the frames were protected by a stylish blue felt travel case that snaps shut. Every package also included a large, high-quality lens cloth and two booklets containing warranty information, customer service details, and care instructions for the eyeglasses.
A Closer Look at the Frames: The Five Styles
After wearing these for three weeks, here are my thoughts on each of the five frames.
Frame 1: Classic Tortoiseshell with Gold Accents
This pair(Molly) features a tortoiseshell frame with beautiful gold details on the corners and ear pieces. The design is a mix of a gold and black band with a tortoiseshell pattern. A unique touch is the soft, small ball at the end of the ear pieces, which provides a comfortable and secure grip. While the lenses were a bit larger than I typically wear, the frames are very lightweight. The quality feels authentic, with sturdy hinges and built-in nose pieces, far superior to the cheap plastic feel of many other blue light glasses.
Frame 2: Thin & Lightweight Metal Frames
This is another tortoiseshell design(Frode), but with a much thinner and more lightweight metal frame. It has a delicate gold and brown accent on the side and adjustable nose pieces. I preferred this style because the slender frame showed more of my face, creating a less chunky look. The quality is a night-and-day difference compared to cheaper alternatives; I was so impressed that I am considering getting my prescription put into these frames.
Frame 3: Feminine Cat-Eye Frames
These glasses(Aiyana) have a very cute and feminine cat-eye design. The bold tortoiseshell print is paired with elegant gold metal frames that are thin and lightweight. A unique design element is the open-bottom frame, where the metal stops, leaving just the lens. This adds a distinctive touch. They fit perfectly, sitting comfortably high on my nose without feeling too tight or causing headaches. The quality and comfort are, once again, 10/10.
Frame 4: Fun & Unique Round Eyewear
These frames(Nevaeh) are a real conversation starter. The round lenses are accented with a unique pink, swirling line across the top. They are incredibly thin, lightweight, and fun. While I might not wear these as my everyday spectacles, they are a perfect, unique accessory for a fun occasion. I've never seen glasses like these anywhere else.
Frame 5: My Prescription Glasses
This final pair(Odette) has my prescription lenses. I chose a thicker tortoiseshell frame with a dark outer rim and stunning gold accents on the side, which is what made me fall in love with them. The ear pieces have the same comfortable and snug design as the first pair. These are, by far, the most comfortable glasses of the five, and I'm glad I chose them for my prescription. The prescription itself was perfectly accurate, and I can see clearly with them.
Final Verdict: Is Lensmart Worth It?
Overall, my experience with Lensmart was excellent. The website was easy to navigate, the checkout process was simple, and shipping took about a reasonable 10 days. The packaging was secure and thoughtful.
Most importantly, the quality of the frames is outstanding. They feel like authentic, high-end eyewear you would purchase from an optometrist, not cheap plastic. The materials are sturdy, and the craftsmanship is excellent. They are a significant step up from any other blue light glasses I've purchased from places like Amazon.
In conclusion, I one-thousand-percent recommend Lensmart. Whether you need prescription lenses or are just looking for stylish, high-quality frames that won't break the bank, Lensmart offers fantastic value. I loved the quality and the entire purchasing process.
